The first training of the national team will be held in Gabala

A meeting has been held with members and coaches of the Azerbaijan national team ahead of the 42nd Chess Olympiad in Baku. The meeting discussed progress of preparations for the 42nd World Chess Olympiad.

The Vice President of the Azerbaijan Chess Federation and Director of the Baku Chess Olympiad Operating Committee, Mr. Mahir Mammedov, said that all necessary conditions would be created for proper preparation of the players. Mr. Mammedov said a training plan had been prepared for all the teams representing Azerbaijan in the prestigious tournament. The Vice President of the Azerbaijan Chess Federation said great hopes in the World Chess Olympiad were being pinned on the men’s national team, which is why a special training plan has been put in place.

The main national team of Azerbaijan will conduct three training sessions in the time remaining for the Baku Chess Olympiad. The first stage of the training will be held in Gabala.

The meeting also discussed the possibility of inviting a foreign team to Baku to play a friendly match against the Azerbaijan national team. As a host country, Azerbaijan will be represented by three men’s and three women’s teams.
