Interview with M.Muzychuk

The women’s team of Ukraine was not to be outdone by their male counterparts; former World Champion Mariya Muzychuk won her game against Irina Chelushkina in a long game, to secure victory for her team against Serbia, and then joined Susan Polgar at the Press Center.

-          Tell us, how did it go?

True, it was a very long game… Actually I didn’t like my position in the opening; I missed her move 20…d5!, when I didn’t like my position at all, but… In the end I think I was better, and so I managed to win this game – I am very happy!

-          You’ve played a number of Olympiads since 2010; which is your favorite one?

Yeah, well… I think this is my fourth Olympiad! I don’t remember well all my tournaments… (laughs) I don’t know, I can’t say which one was the best, but I can say that this Olympiad is very well organized. I am very glad to be here in Baku!

-          Your next round match will probably be the key match against Russia; what’s your anticipation?

Right! Tomorrow is a free day, so we can prepare for this match. I think they won their match today, yes? Then we will play them for sure. We will see!

-          Before the rest day there is the Bermuda party! Will you be there?

I don’t think so, but we will see!
